I am incredibly excited to share that my research has been featured on the cover of GAM 22: Synergies – Building Collaborations in Architectural Research. Along with the cover illustration, the issue includes a comprehensive photo essay diving deeper into the work.
From Harvard GSD Thesis to Publication
This feature brings a body of work originally developed during my Master’s thesis at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) back into the light. The research, titled "Hydrogels – Material Behavior and Spatial Transformation," sits at the intersection of material science, digital technologies, and architectural design.
The cover image captures the dynamic, responsive nature of hydrogels as they interact with structural boundaries, exploring how material computation and inherent physical behaviors can dictate new spatial logic.
"Architecture is, by definition, multidisciplinary... GAM 22 is dedicated to those synergies that succeed: when architects and material scientists explore new pathways toward carbon-neutral construction, when digital technologies, biological processes, or innovative recycling strategies become integral parts of architectural concepts..." — GAM 22 Editorial
Inside the Issue
The accompanying photo essay provides a visual and theoretical breakdown of these material experiments. GAM 22 focuses heavily on the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation. Seeing this work framed within a dialogue about the future of built environments and collaborative architectural research is an immense honor.
A huge thank you to the guest editors Urs Hirschberg, Milena Stavrić, and Sophia Meeres, as well as the entire editorial team at Graz Architecture Magazine, for including my work in this vital conversation.
